Elderberry Syrup

Making the tea on the stove

Add the dry mix (you can also add more fresh ginger, as much as you prefer) to 64 oz. of water, and bring to a low boil, holding there with the lid on for 60 minutes. Turn off the heat, and strain out all the solids from the tea.

You can freeze some of the tea, or make all of it into syrup.

For a pint of syrup, add 8 oz. of local honey to 8 oz. of the hot tea, and you have an immune boosting syrup! Store this syrup in the fridge, use as needed.

Instant Pot instructions

Place elderberry mix and 64 oz. of water in the insert, turn on high for 15 minutes, with the lid on and the valve closed. When it finishes, you can let it cool on its own, or open the valve to release the pressure. Once the lid can be opened, proceed the same as with the on the stove method, starting from strain out all the solids from the tea.

Elderberry syrup with sugar instead of honey

For children under 1, or those who cannot/prefer not to use honey, you can use 2 parts tea and 1 part simple syrup made with sugar. For the 32 oz tea, you would add 16 oz (1 pint) of simple syrup.

The syrup will store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months. The tea will store in the freezer for up to a year.

How much to take?

Most adults take approximately 1 tablespoon of elderberry syrup 1-2x/day.

Fire Cider

Drink 1-3 teaspoons every day or as needed. Can be taken straight, or diluted in water or tea (hot or iced).

Culinary uses range from using in salad dressings and marinades to using in your meat smoker, sprinkling on roasted vegetables, or in soup.

Try it in any recipe that calls for apple cider vinegar!

Osha

Take between a half to a whole dropperful once or twice a day. Drop under the tongue, hold there for 60-90 seconds, then swallow.

Honey-Fermented Garlic

Have a teaspoon of the honey with a piece of the garlic as needed.

To use as part of a recipe, try it on roasted vegetables, any meat/seafood, or use to make honey-garlic mustard!

Herbal Teas (Restful)

Steep 1-2 teaspoons of tea in 8 oz. of hot water. Add sweetener if you prefer, and enjoy!
